Coeliac Support Group

The Mayo Coeliac Support Group meeting will be held on Monday October 10 at 8pm in Le Chéile Family Resource Centre, Tucker Street, Castlebar.

Le Chéile Family Resource Centre in conjunction with Castlebar Youth Project will hold two separate evenings of courses. On September 26 from 5pm to 6.30pm (basic computers) and on Monday October 3 (mobile phone use). There are limited places so if you are interested contact the centre on 094 902 5126.

Growing Real Opportunities for Women (GROW)

Mayo Intercultural Action has secured further funding to continue its work supporting women to set up their own businesses. Last year MIA worked with women throughout Mayo providing support, training, mentoring, and advice to women in the process of setting up their own enterprises. Following on the success of this, MIA has now been allocated EU funding to continue this work for a second year.

Information sessions for older people

Le Chéile Family Resource Centre in conjunction with Castlebar Youth Action will be running two evening information sessions for older members of the community. The first information session is about how to use a computer and specifically the internet. This session takes place on Monday September 26 from 5pm to 6.30pm. The second information session will be around your mobile phone. Young people will be on hand to show you how to use your mobile phone to send text messages, etc. This will take place on Monday October 3 from 5pm to 6.30pm. Both sessions will take place in Le Chéile FRC, however places are limited so booking is necessary. If you would like further information or would like to attend contact the centre on 094 902 5126.

Community mediation service

Mediation is a way to resolve disputes with the assistance of an impartial third party. People in conflict are provided with a safe place to voice their needs and interests, listen to each other, and negotiate fair solutions. The service is free and confidential and is available from Le Chéile Family Resource Centre, Tucker Street, Castlebar.

Community Coffee Morning

The Le Chéile Family Resource Centre, Tucker Street, Castlebar, holds a community coffee morning every Monday from 10.30am to 11am.

Ceol agus Craic in Le Chéile

Le Chéile Family Resource Centre (FRC) celebrated Bealtaine in style by having a coffee morning for the community on May 30. Bealtaine provides the opportunity to celebrate creativity in older age and Castlebar’s Le Chéile FRC did just that. The coffee morning was officially started by Mayor of Castlebar Councillor Gerard Deere. The crowd were entertained by Mayo’s finest Politically Correct, and Tommy Fleming dropped by for a sing-song and a cup of tea. The whole event was broadcast live on the Johnny Oosten show on Castlebar Community Radio.
